Roles and responsibilities

I help clients and partners solve fire safety challenges. My primary expertise is in evaluating fire behavior and fire safety in the built environment and in transportation systems, through the design, conduct and analysis of large-scale fire experiments.

Current research and/or projects

  • Research into fire hazards associated with lithium-ion battery packs, electric vehicles and energy storage systems
  • Research into the total cost of fire in Canada, including all direct and indirect costs related to all types of fire including building fires, infrastructure fires, wildfires, industrial fires and vehicle fires
  • Research into crude oil pool fire behavior and the thermal impact on engulfed objects such as rail tank cars
  • Research into heat flux measurement techniques
