NRC Collaboration Program in support of Canada’s Digital Technology Supercluster

 

Canada’s Digital Technology Supercluster (CDTS) is a member-driven organization which co-invests in ambitious, collaborative projects that develop products and platforms enabling the digital transformation of key industries such as discrete manufacturing, natural resources, life sciences and healthcare. The joint investment of supercluster members and CDTS helps Canadian businesses grow and prosper, creating jobs, and setting the foundations for scalable economic growth for Canada.

The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is undertaking a collaborative research program, the CDTS Collaboration Program, to support the objectives of the supercluster, creating linkages between NRC experts, academic researchers and supercluster members.

Collaborators

We invite researchers at Canadian and international universities, colleges, research centres, centres of excellence, and highly innovative firms to express their interest in collaborating with NRC researchers in support of the supercluster.

Contribution funding is available to help defray the costs of research for academic institutions, businesses and other eligible recipients collaborating with NRC researchers.

NRC support for Canada’s Digital Technology Supercluster

CDTS Objective 1: Precision health

  • Supercluster objective: This program aims to establish Canada as one of the world’s leaders in data-driven innovations in precision health. CDTS uses the broader definition of precision health by considering genomics, lifestyle and environment factors in combination with clinical diagnostics and treatment processes to arrive at a highly personalized result.
  • NRC research centres that can support this objective: Medical Devices; Human Health Therapeutics; and Digital Technologies.
  • Example areas of interest:
    • AI-powered diagnostic tools and telemedicine
    • Care team collaboration and patient empowerment
    • Multi-omics and tailored therapies
    • Remote patient monitoring and IoMT (Internet of Medical Things)
    • Connecting clinical research and clinical practice

CDTS Objective 2: Digital twinning

  • Supercluster objective: Leverage digital technologies to create real-time, virtual production environments for operations management, simulation, modelling and training.
  • NRC research centres that can support this objective: Aerospace; Automotive and Surface Transportation; Digital Technologies; and Energy, Mining and Environment.
  • Example areas of interest:
    • Industry 4.0
    • Real-time simulations of manufacturing processes
    • Predictive maintenance of industrial plants
    • Geospatial modeling of natural resources
    • Predictive analytics and disaster mitigations
