Eureka's CELTIC-NEXT cluster, a transnational and industry-driven research, development and innovation program in the telecommunication sector, has launched its multilateral call for proposals for joint research and development (R&D) projects. The CELTIC Core Group consists of 16 members from 10 countries mainly in the European telecoms industry, including Adva, Bosch, British Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, Ericsson, Indra, Itatel, Netas, Nokia, Orange, RAD Data Communications, Telefonica, Telenor, Thales, Turkcell, and Turk Telecom.
Open to:
- small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
- large enterprises and industries
- universities
- research organizations
- others
Sector of focus:
Telecommunications with the following key technology application areas:
- 5G/6G infrastructure technologies
- 5G/6G use cases
Key dates:
- International Consortium Project Proposal (ICPP) submission deadline: November 22, 2021
Funding for CELTIC-NEXT:
Canadian organizations are encouraged to join CELTIC-NEXT consortiums and form Team Canada sub-consortiums within their projects. Funding may be available for some Canadian project participants as detailed below:
Canadian SMEs
Funding may be available through NRC IRAP for incorporated Canadian SMEs (i.e. for-profit companies with 500 or fewer full-time equivalent employees) to engage in CELTIC-NEXT projects.
Preference will be given to SMEs that have:
- a minimum of 15 full-time equivalent employees and at least $500,000 CAD in annual revenue
- previous experience in commercializing technology for domestic or international markets
- the capacity and interest to co-develop technology with foreign partners
- sufficient working capital and human resources to undertake a multi-year research and development collaboration and commercialize the results
Canadian SME applicants must be eligible for funding as NRC IRAP clients before they can be considered for funding through the call for proposals. For more information on NRC IRAP eligibility and becoming an NRC IRAP client, please contact NRC IRAP at 1-877-994-4727.
Canadian organizations
Other types of Canadian organizations may participate in CELTIC-NEXT projects but need to secure funding from alternative sources or self-fund their project participation.
