The Postdoctoral Fellowship Program provides promising scientists with access to world-class facilities and an opportunity to work alongside multidisciplinary teams of expert researchers and technicians on projects of critical importance to Canada. Postdoctoral fellows are hired as NRC employees, for a period of 2 years.
Am I eligible?
Candidates who have met either of the following criteria are eligible to apply:
- You obtained a PhD (or equivalent) within the past 3 years (PhD received on or after July 1, 2023)
- You expect to complete your PhD within 6 months of your appointment to the postdoctoral fellowship program.

Preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
Compensation
Salary is determined following an in-depth evaluation of the successful candidate's experience. This evaluation will consider specific achievements, skills, and contributions demonstrating the candidate's impact and expertise.
As a guide, the starting salary for new postdoctoral fellows is typically step one of the AsRO level. For the current salary ranges, consult the RO rates of pay. Salaries are taxable and subject to other deductions.
The NRC is committed to supporting the potential for salary growth and career progression within the organization, providing access to the opportunities and resources needed on a pathway to a fulfilling career. Postdoctoral fellows are also allocated a travel fund to help support their work.
